ABOUT ME (resume below)
During my seven years in the field of special education, I’ve striven to become an expert in understanding and developing larger solutions for special needs students, especially those who have the elements of Learning Disability, giftedness or ADHD in their profile. I try to provide a crucial link between governing bodies, schools, psychologists, remediation facilities, students and their families. As a big picture thinker I thrive on creating specialized education plans for students, taking into consideration their interests and unique strengths.
As a licensed B.C. teacher, I just recently added to my Bachelor’s Degree in Education by completing a Master’s Degree in Special Education at UBC with a focus on Learning Disabilities.
Prior to founding Mosaic Education Solutions in 2010, I worked at Fraser Academy, a school for students with learning disabilities, as Director of Transition Services (2008-2010), helping prepare students for their transition from high school to the work force or post-secondary education.
As the former director of Eaton Learning Centre from 2005-2008 (ELC) I worked in conjunction with licensed BC Psychologists to administer A and B level assessment measures, write clear, functional psycho-educational assessment reports and provide follow-up services to hundreds of families throughout British Columbia. Families seemed to appreciate my unique ability to communicate the results of a psycho-educational report in a manner they could easily understand. As Howard Eaton, Founder/Director of the Eaton Arrowsmith School has commented, "An open, curious and knowledgeable mind is needed to provide more complex educational solutions for children. Sarah combines these talents and abilities with compassion and caring. I highly recommend parents seeking innovative and insightful solutions for their child's education contact Sarah."
On a more personal note, I have learned a great deal from navigating the public and private education systems in BC as the mother of a student who is twice exceptional (gifted with a Learning Disability).
